Croatian cuisine is influenced by its Mediterranean climate, with dishes that are based on seafood, olive oil, and fresh herbs and vegetables. Popular dishes include mussels or scampi with Croatian buzara, a sauce for seafood that mixes olive oil, wine, garlic, and parsley. Other options are simply grilled fish, octopus salad, or little girice (fish without bones).
Traditionally the meat is slowly cooked in a brick oven and you'll find generously filled meat platters almost everywhere, we usually recommend sharing a single portion.
Otherwise we recommend trying the fresh veggies and fruits directly from the tree or at least from a small local shop.
